The six-person Terrajpulse team standing outside their teal-painted Kakamega shopfront

A local business that grew out of this neighbourhood

Terrajpulse started in Kakamega in 2018 — and we've stayed rooted here by design.

Meet the team

How Terrajpulse began and what it does

Terrajpulse was founded in 2018 by a small group of Kakamega residents who noticed the same gap week after week: getting even basic local services sorted required too much travel, too many phone calls, and too much uncertainty about whether things would actually get done. The idea was simple — build one accessible, honest operation in the town centre that handles the practical everyday needs of the community: appointments, product sourcing, and personal or business support tasks. We're not a franchise or a chain. We're a micro-team of six people, most of whom grew up in or around Kakamega, serving customers across the town and the surrounding areas of Lurambi, Shinyalu, and Navakholo sub-counties. Since opening, we've completed over 3,200 service requests and sourced products for more than 800 unique customers. Every service we offer today exists because a neighbour asked for it.

How we work, what we value, and where we fall short

Our working style is direct and low-friction. When you come to Terrajpulse, you speak to the person actually handling your request — not a call-centre script or a queue of automated replies. Our team keeps records of what each customer has needed before, so repeat visits are faster and we spend less of your time on background information you've already given. We value transparency about what's possible. If an order will take four days, we tell you four days — not two days and then a series of excuses. If we can't source something within a reasonable timeframe or budget, we say so clearly. We do not operate outside Kakamega Town boundaries for direct service delivery, and we don't handle legal, medical, or large-scale logistics work — those need specialists we're not. What we can promise is that within our scope, we show up consistently, communicate honestly, and treat every request from a student buying a single item the same way we treat a trader placing a standing monthly order. That consistency is what has kept over 60% of our customers returning since our first year.

A few numbers that tell our story

3,200+ requests completed

Since 2018, more than 3,200 service requests have been handled by the Terrajpulse team — from single product orders to recurring monthly support plans for local traders.

800+ unique customers

Families, students, vendors, and small business owners from across Kakamega and neighbouring sub-counties have trusted us at least once — and most have come back more than once.

60%+ customer return rate

More than six in ten first-time customers have returned for a second service or order. We track this because it's the most honest measure of whether what we do is actually working.

“I've used Terrajpulse for sourcing stationery and packaging supplies for my shop on Ang'ala Road for the past two years. The team knows my standing order by heart at this point, and they always flag it when a price from the supplier changes before just billing me. That kind of heads-up is what keeps me loyal.”
